A little over a week ago, I took the kids to my mother in law's so we could celebrate her birthday, before she left to go on vacation with Brian's sister, Pam. They went to Hilton Head, SC. As you may recall, she was gone last year on her birthday, as well, and promised everyone that she'd be home this year, no matter what. Well, you see, she left, this year, the day before her birthday. We of course were disappointed, but none so much as Andy. He was really having a hard time with his Grandma being gone for so long (10+ days), and not being able to see her. Anyway....we had Subway for lunch that day, and ice cream for dessert. We had a nice, although, very brief visit with her. The kids each made her a card, and they got her a box of pretty floral note cards, and some of her favorite after sun lotion, to take with her to the beach. Brian & I got her a gift card to Macy's, and a bottle of her favorite wine. I am pretty sure that Grandma had a good birthday; she was all smiles after she opened the bag that contained the bottle of wine!!
I am hoping that since they are back home, in Ohio, that Pam will bring Grandma home to her house this week, as we'd like to maybe go see Grandma this weekend. Brian's other sister, Debbie, mentioned something about having a cookout/birthday party for Jerry, their brother, who'll turn 48 this Thursday. She's wanting to have it at Grandma's house, with everyone bringing the food & cleaning up. Not sure if Grandma will go for that or not. Hope she doesn't wait til the last minute to plan it though...but that seems to be the norm for Debbie these days!!
